GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- One department store giant is helping bring awareness to children's safety, by giving a large donation to St. Mary's Hospital Saturday.

The Kohl's Cares program continues to team up with St. Mary's Hospital and presented them with $23,431 check.

The money will go toward Sadie, the safety dinosaur, injury prevention program and website.

Parents, children and teachers can all go on the website to learn ways to become more aware of safety concerns and stranger danger.

"It's so important these days. We've had so many stranger issues lately that we really need to get that point across. Strangers are a danger and Sadie (the dinosaur) helps us do that," said Danette Lurvey, trauma nurse coordinator at St. Mary's Hospital.

The website will cater to the Western Slope.

In the past seven years, Kohl's Cares program has donated more than $110,000 to St. Mary's Hospital.
