Spring Real Estate Season Kicks Off
KREX News Room
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. This weekend the spring real estate season kicked off, with towns across the country taking part in Open House Weekend.
Throughout the Grand Valley over 80 properties were open to view.
Local real estate officials say they're seeing an upswing in sales and a decrease in the number of days homes are sitting in the market. They say it's a refreshing sign after a sluggish economy.
Michael Burkhard, Grand Junction Area REALTOR Association Chairman, said, "It's a good time for both buyers and sellers. We're starting to see our prices come up a little bit, which is encouraging for the people who had lost some equity in the last few years, and that's encouraging for our market right now. And a lot more buyers are out there, I think there's a lot of first-time buyers that are starting to think it's a good idea."
The Open House Weekend is always held in April. Officials say it's a good time because schools are almost out for the summer and families are thinking about moving.
This weekend lenders were on sites, qualifying folks at the open houses.
