Smashing Good Time at Egg-Stravaganza

by KREX News Room

Grand Junction - It was a smashing good time Wednesday at the annual Egg-Stravaganza fundraiser in Grand Junction. Some very brave volunteers allowed eggs to get smashed over their heads to raise money for the March of Dimes. Each egg represented $5 that was donated. This year things got even messier with the addition of cake batter to the mix.

Around $2,400 was raised, which breaks last year's record of $2,000. Organizers say they're "egg-static."

"It just excites me completely to know that we have increased, every single year, the amounts that we're bringing in," said Patricia Worthington, branch manager for American National Bank.

"I feel great because today we raised over $2,000 for March of Dimes, and that's what this is all about," said Roxie Denning, an egg-covered participant.

The money raised will go towards the March of Dimes Walk for Babies.
