Ski Resort Business Down 10% Statewide

by KREX News Room
by Cori Coffin

Despite recent snow storms, Colorado ski resorts report a decrease in attendance from last year.

Colorado Ski Country USA says skier visits at its 22 resorts are down by about 10% from the same period last year. That doesn't include visits to ski areas owned by Vail Resorts, Inc., which said its four Colorado resorts and two others are down about 15% overall from last year.

Officials say early-season storms allowed some resorts to open earlier than planned last fall, but in-state skiers stayed away from some Colorado resorts when snow was inconsistent in November and December.

Jackie is absolutely right! No money, great snow, still not skiing.

I'm sure it has more to do with the fact that most people just can't afford it anymore than it does with snow conditions.
