Simulated Fire Training Held at Old Mesa County Courthouse

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - On Tuesday night several fire crews were called out to the Old Mesa County Court House to battle a fire on the third floor, but not in the way one might think.

A simulated fire training was held to give fire fighters a chance to work with their resources, use search techniques and practice equipment deployments.

Both the Grand Junction Fire Department and crews with the Lower Valley Fire Department attended the training to help them learn how to work better together.

"As the department in the valley gets busier and busier, it's very likely we'll be calling on mutual aid companies to the East and the West and perhaps the South of us to help us with emergencies," said Mike Gazdak, training officer with the Grand Junction Fire Department.

Authorities say it was also a great opportunity to make sure all of the county's emergency alarms are working effectively.

Burn it down and burn the vipers nest next to it as well! Good riddance.
