GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A late night shooting at an apartment complex has left a man in serious condition.

It happened around 11 p.m. Monday at the Racquet Club Apartments located at 2915 Orchard Ave. in Grand Junction.

Law enforcement responded to reports of a shooting at the apartments, and discovered one man had been injured after being shot in the chest area.

That man, whose identity has not yet been released, was listed in serious condition at St. Mary's Hospital as of Tuesday morning.

NewsChannel 5 spoke to one witness, who didn't want to be identified, but said she heard the whole thing unfold.

"I saw a shot and then almost immediately after was another shot that I know I saw, and I heard the guy ran directly behind my car and passed behind the pool; as he ran back there he was screaming to someone that he'd just gotten shot," said the witness.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and no potential suspect information has been released.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff's Office, this investigation is still in its very early stages, and they're in the process of getting investigators to both the hospital and the scene of the shooting.
