Sheriff’s Posse Rides for Child Grieving Program

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A group of 10 Sheriff's Posse members rode from Loma to Grand Junction on Sunday, to raise both money and awareness for a child grieving program.
Healing with Horses is a therapy counseling group organized by HopeWest. The group works with horses in order to help process the feelings and emotions of these children, related to their grief.
Officials say working with kids who are mourning or grieving is a lot different than adults, which is why this program is important.
“To have these programs in place, to help these kids identify and express and process their emotions is really crucial in healing process,” said Adrianne Wagner, grief counselor for HopeWest Kids. “The group also helps kiddos when they are with each other. They realize that they are not the only ones grieving and that they’re not so different than anyone else.”
It was the first time the Sheriff's Posse helped out the Healing with Horses program.
In total, they raised nearly $800.
