Sheriff's Deputy Suspended After Allegedly Sexting Minor

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (AP) -A Douglas County sheriff's deputy who was suspended as part of an investigation into inappropriate text messages involving a juvenile has been arrested on two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.

Sgt. Ron Hanavan says the deputy, whose name has not been released, was arrested Friday and has since posted $50,000 bail. The deputy has been put on unpaid leave pending the outcome of a criminal investigation that began last week.

An internal investigation also is under way.

Hanavan says the alleged conduct occurred while the deputy was off duty.
