by Josh Moser

GRAND JUNCTION, colo.-The face of action sports Shaun White is looking to return to glory at the 2013 Winter X-Games in Aspen, Colorado. The games kick off Thursday at 12:30p.m. with NewsChannel5 bringing you live coverage throughout the event.

Mark McMorris, the 19-year-old snowboard sensation is looking to knock White off the podium, as the up-and-comer in the world of professional snowboarding. The Quebec native was the 2012 X-Games Big Air event winner and is known for his triple-cork aerial maneuver.

NewsChannel5 Sports Reporter explained the rivalry, where the two are most excited about competing against each other in the SlopeStyle event.

"I think everybody is super-hyped on the course," said McMorris. "It's really, really fun to ride which makes it easier to try new things...it's going to be a wild one."

White is the first snowboarder to five-peat in SuperPipe and will look to become the first person to six-peat.
