GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A bad accident shut down both sides of North Avenue Monday evening. It also forced an extrication of one of the drivers involved.
Grand Junction police say around 5:30 p.m., a sedan heading north on Third Street appeared to have pulled out in front of a pickup truck heading east on North Avenue.
The truck collided with the sedan on the driver's side.
"The woman inside the sedan was pinned inside her vehicle for about 20 minutes while firefighters worked very hard to extricate her from that vehicle," explained Kate Porras with the Grand Junction Police Department.
The woman was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. There is no status on the other driver involved.
Although the accident is still under investigation, authorities say there's no initial indication that alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash.
North Avenue was closed for about an hour between Third and Fourth streets, but has since reopened.
