Sentencing Hearing To Be Continued

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The sentencing for the man accused of killing another man outside a Grand Junction Taco Bell has been pushed back for up to another month.

With emotion filling the courtroom Friday as the final statements came in from family members and friends the judge said he needed more time before making his final decision.

This portion of the criminal case was already delayed back in November, due to a computer glitch.

One statement that was said in the courtroom Friday by the son of the man who was shot and killed follows: "When they killed my poppa, they killed my best friend, and they killed my life. Poppa and I did everything together."

Lester Miranda-Davis pleaded guilty to second degree murder, second degree burglary, menacing with a deadly weapon, and robbery back in September.

Miranda-Davis was accused of shooting and killing Jorge Alberto Carrasco, who was eating in the patio area outside the Taco Bell on North Avenue in July of last year.

The judge said he will reach a conclusion within 30 days.

Family members of the victim asked if the decision could be announced orally in the courtroom. The judge said he will consider it.
