Senate Votes to Confirm Hagel as Defense Chief

WASHINGTON (AP) - Chuck Hagel is expected to take the oath of office today as defense secretary.

Just four Republicans joined Democrats in confirming Hagel, a two-term Republican senator and a twice-wounded Vietnam veteran.

The vote came after the GOP ended an unprecedented filibuster. President Barack Obama called Hagel the defense secretary the nation needs and the leader our troops deserve.
