COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A second person is facing prosecution in the slayings of a Fort Carson soldier and his wife in Colorado Springs.

Police have previously said a 17-year-old boy was arrested Thursday on suspicion of first-degree murder in the deaths of David Dunlap and his wife, Whitney Butler. Chief Deputy District Attorney Jeffrey Lindsey said at a court hearing Friday that the teen would be charged as an adult.

The Gazette reports 19-year-old Jerel Couch also was arrested Thursday on suspicion of being an accessory to first-degree murder and of harboring a fugitive.

Police have said Dunlap, of Moorpark, Calif., and his wife were shot and killed Monday when they surprised a burglar in their home.

Dunlap arrived at Fort Carson in Colorado in November.
