GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Several statues line the streets of downtown Grand Junction, all which come with a story. On Friday Main Street can add yet another sculpture to that collection.

The statue is to be installed at the corner of Third and Main streets, right by the SpringHill Suites by Marriott.

It will be the fifth statue installed by the Legends of the Grand Valley within the last five years.

All of their sculptures tell a story of people who were leaders in the community and had an impact on Grand Junction.

Their newest piece will recognize the leaders of Operation Foresight.

“It's the project that really was primarily responsible for downtown Grand Junction being named all American City in 1962,” said Jacquie Chappell-Reid of Legends of the Grand Valley. "That gained a lot of national recognition for our community.”

The unveiling will happen Friday at 5:30 p.m. and for more information on the Legends of the Grand Valley, click here.
