DENVER - A bill sponsored by state senator Steve King to improve safety in Colo. schools was unanimously passed out of the Senate Appropriations Committee Friday.

Senate Bill 13-138 would expand the roles of school resource officers, include school resource officers as community partners. It also allows school districts to consult with all community partners in the development and implementation of their safe school plans.

The bill will now go to the floor of the senate, where it will be heard by the Committee of the Whole.
