School Closed Friday After Confusion About Water Outage

by KREX News Room

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- It's an early weekend for students at Holy Family Catholic after school officials call off school Friday.

According to Ute Water officials, crews were installing a new line to the area of G Road and 26 Road overnight.

When school officials showed up at school Friday morning before 6 a.m., there was a water outage.

Though Ute Water informed the school that water would be back on by 7 a.m., school officials received conflicting information from Ute Water's answering service, Mountain Message Service, Inc.

Due to the miscommunication, the principal called off school and alerted parents with phone messages early Friday morning.

In light of the canceled school day, Ute water and Holy Family Catholic are utilizing this day to perform additional water line work that was scheduled for another time.
