GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.- A Houston drilling company wants to break ground in Colorado's Thompson Divide.

According to the Glenwood Springs Post Independent, SG Interests of Houston has filed its first formal application for a permit to drill a single gas well that's 1.5 miles southwest of Sunlight Mountain Resort.

The lease and well site is located just north of the Garfield-Pitkin county line.

In mid-July, SG Interests told the Bureau of Land Management it had started taking surveys to find locations for seven to nine well pads on up to 18 leases in the Thompson Divide area.

SG Interests' request is currently being reviewed for completeness by the BLM and White River National Forest officials.
