GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Authorities with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office have identified the robbery suspect as 23-year-old Chad Walker Evans of Delta.

Authorities say earlier this afternoon, a Glade Park homeowner returned to find an unknown man leaving their home. The suspect pushed the homeowner to the ground and stole their car.

Authorities say the suspect drove the car to a Riverside subdivision and left it near Rockaway and Hale Avenues and ran into a shed in between several homes.

SWAT crews were able to evacuate the surrounding homes and authorities surrounded the structure where the suspect was hiding while they waiting for a warrant to enter.

Authorities threw tear gas into the shed around 8 p.m. and shortly after, the suspect walked out of the structure and was safely taken into custody.

Authorities say after the arrest, Evans refused to identify himself. It wasn't until the Colorado Bureau of Investigation confirmed his fingerprints that officials now know his identity.

Evans has been charged with a laundry list of offenses including second degree burglary, theft, robbery, fraud-identity theft, second degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, second dgree criminal trespass and driving with a canceled/denied drivers license.

Instead of tear gas, it's too bad they didn't/couldn't just throw in a hand grenade and save the taxpayers a lot of money prosecuting this dirt bag.

You don't even know the "dirt bag" who happened to be homeless at the time and was probably only trying to stay warm. If your solution was to kill him you should've been the one they arrested.

Well, RUFUS, it's not like he killed someone or hurt anyone, if he was a child molester or killed someone, then something like that could be understandable, but you have no idea what the circumstances were for this guy. You ought to be the one a grenade gets thrown on for suggesting something like that. As far as I'm concerned you have some serious mental issues that seem far worse than the guy who got arrested, have a dose of humanity and realize that some people are handed bad situations and at least he chose not to harm anyone with the supposed firearms he had you idiot!
