DENVER, Colo.- Authorities have arrested a prisoner who escaped while he was being taken to Denver International Airport to be deported.

Phoday Dumbuya was arrested in Scotts Bluff Friday evening.

Dumbuya was being deported to Gambia when he escaped Tuesday while being escorted by two officers.

The Denver Post reports it was unclear how he was able to escape and leave DIA property, but immigration officials say he wasn't wearing handcuffs.

Dumbuya was convicted in Denver for assault in 2008 and sentenced to two years of probation.

Court records indicate he head butted a woman and punched her repeatedly after she fell to the ground.
