Rollover Accident Leaves 2 in Hospital
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Authorities rushed to a rollover on Interstate 70 on Easter Sunday, after a mother and small child were involved in a car accident. According to Grand Junction Police, around 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, authorities reported to mile marker 31, which is right near Horizon Drive. A 21-year-old female driver had been driving her 2006 silver Pontiac G6 with her 14-month baby in the back seat. When after trying to pass a semi-truck, she ran off the left side of the road because she felt the truck swerving into her lane. She then over-corrected herself back on to interstate, crossed both lanes and ended up rolling over into an embankment. The driver and her child were rushed to Saint Mary’s with minor injuries and are both reported to be in good condition at this point. The car however, is totaled. There were initial reports that at one point, the accident left a person or persons pinned inside a vehicle. Those reports have since been ruled false. Grand Junction Police Department, Grand Junction Fire Department and Colorado State Patrol reported to the scene. Alcohol and speed are not ruled as contributing factors.
