MESA, Colo.- Officials were forced to close down a major highway Monday morning after a rockslide blocked the roadway.

Around 4 a.m. Colorado State Patrol and the Colorado Department of Transportation arrived at mile marker 57 of Highway 65, where a rockslide left debris all over the road.

According to CSP, the exact cause of the rockslide is still unknown, but a geologist is examining the rock in the area to determine how it happened and whether there is potential risk for more rock to fall.

The rockslide caused a temporary shutdown of the highway, but the road has since reopened.

No one was injured in the incident.
