NEW CASTLE, Colo.- Students at Newcastle's Riverside Middle School will have a new experience when they return to school this year.

The school was one of 12 around the country to receive a $33,000 grant from the Verizon Foundation.

Riverside Middle School is using the funding as part of the Verizon Innovative Schools Program.

In the program teachers will fully integrate mobile technology (smartphones and netbooks) into the classroom to enhance the learning experience.

The grant money supports some materials, but mostly training for the teachers so they can use the tech savvy tools in their daily lessons and provide individualized instruction for their students.
