GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- City Council has unanimously approved a resolution appointing Rich Englehart as city manager.

Englehart had served as the interim city manager since December, after former City Manager Laurie Kadrich resigned.

He was hired as the deputy city manager in March 2008.

During Wednesday's meeting, Englehart expressed his excitement about the future. "The experience I've had in the last six months and being a part, along with a lot of people who are here tonight to bring forward exciting projects, it's going to be nice to be involved in this. Thank you so much for this great opportunity," Englehart said.

Englehart will be offered a contract with a $150,000 annual salary, plus a housing allowance of $2,000 per month for six months. It will also include moving expenses up to $7,500 to help him move from Delta, where he currently lives, to Grand Junction.

No doubt! $7500 to move 40 miles?! A housing allowance of $12000 for six months? We have so got to vote out this current city council as soon as possible.
