Residents Prepare for the Next Storm

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - It was a white Christmas on the Western Slope but a second snow storm may have caught some by surprise.

Local Home Depot representatives tell NewsChannel 5 this Wednesday was one of the busiest days they've had as people stocked up on much needed winter essentials.

After a long day, the store was practically sold out of their snow shovels and folks were still coming in before closing time to buy bugs of ice melt.

"I think it caught us all off guard because we weren't expecting to get this much so late," said shopper, Tarek Arja.

The city of Grand Junction's Street Systems will use snow plows if the chemical melting agents do not work well to remove the snow.

If the snow plows are called out they'll focus on main roads and highways first, then moving to downtown and roads that connect main streets.

Officials also want to remind business owners, residents and anyone else clearing snow off sidewalks to keep the snow off of the streets and out of the gutters.

FTA:Officials also want to remind business owners, residents and anyone else clearing snow off sidewalks to keep the snow off of the streets and out of the gutters. And just exactly do the OFFICIALS propose that people do with the snow? Stupid officials don't know their buttons from boomerang.

Just curious. What exactly are "bugs of ice melt"? :) A new super breed of insect? Thanks for the giggle!
