GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- After a long summer of waiting for the new retail store in the Grand Mesa Shopping Center to open up, T.J. Maxx held its grand opening Sunday.

In addition to the economic boost the business provides, several people say they are pleased to have a new retail establishment to give residents even more shopping options.

"I told my husband that I wouldn't actually be buying anything, and I left with two bags full," said Grand Junction resident Cynthia Kohls.

Some residents say they are excited to have another place to do some holiday shopping.

"With the population in the Grand Valley, I think we certainly could use it, and it's always nice to have some other place to shop; we're welcoming it," said Shirlee Labuda.

Shoppers reported a check-out line wrapped around the building inside.
