Republican Proposes Food Tax Bill

DENVER A Republican lawmaker is proposing a food tax bill, which would make prepared food tax free.

His bill would exempt prepared food sold in restaurants, food trucks and gas stations from state sales tax.

Legislative tax analysts say the change would save Coloradans 246 million dollars next year.

However, Democratic lawmakers are unlikely to vote yes on the bill because Colorado already exempts sales taxes on most non-prepared foods sold in grocery stores.

The democrats will not support it. They embrace the philosophy of the local Healthcare/Marxism complex and believe that all smokers, obese people, the elderly and the unborn should be eliminated to relieve society of the financial drag of such people. I wouldn't be surprised at all if in the future a democrat politician endorses a steep restaurant tax to punish people for eating. Don't believe me? Go to New York and try and buy a soda larger than 16 ounces.
