Relief Available for Horse Owners in Colorado

by KREX News Room
by Kristina Kuestner

DENVER(AP)- The Colorado Humane Society wants horse owners to know that help is available if they can't afford to feed their animals.

Society spokeswoman Amie Cavarra said owners in need can get help from horse rescue group or her group and also get free hay from the state's three hay banks. The banks are located in Grand Junction, Evergreen and Parker.

Hay prices have skyrocketed because of the lingering drought.

Drought has caused prices to rise but for the most part the hay grower's know that you have to pay their price if you want to keep your horse.
