DENVER, Colo. (AP) -The driver of a wayward regional passenger bus who made a wrong turn into Denver's one-way, high-speed traffic lane has been cited for careless driving.

Police say motorists were lucky there was no accident when the bus drove head-on into rush-hour traffic on Interstate 25 on Tuesday before coming to an abrupt stop.

Traffic was able to get by after the bus was moved to the side of the two-lane highway. A Regional Transportation District spokesman says the bus driver was new to the route.

The driver has been suspended pending an internal investigation into what happened.

Road signs are being changed to prevent something similar from happening again.
