GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on an environmental assessment for the proposed trail construction in Bangs Canyon, south of Grand Junction.

Under the proposal, the BLM would design and construct eight trails in Bangs Canyon totaling more than 21 miles. The BLM, in cooperation with the Responsible Recreation Foundation, plans to design and create trails for motorcyclists, mountain bikers, ATVs, horseback riding and hiking.

The deadline for this project was originally Nov. 22 but community members requested a 30-day extension to Dec. 22.

Proposed trail maps, along with the environmental assessment are available on the BLM Grand Junction field office website at http://www.blm.gov/co/st/en/fo/gjfo.html .
