WESTMINSTER, Colo.- The teenager who prosecutors say confessed to killing a 10-year-old Westminster girl and attacking a runner at a nearby lake has been charged in court.

Prosecutors have charged 17-year-old Austin Sigg as an adult in the slaying of Jessica Ridgeway and in a separate attack on a 22-year-old woman.

Prosecutors filed 17 counts against Sigg, including murder, robbery and sexual assault on a child.

According to reports, eight relatives of Jessica also watched the proceedings, including her mother. Each wore purple, which was Jessica's favorite color.

Jessica disappeared Oct. 5 after leaving her home to meet a friend for a walk to school.

Sigg is currently being held without bail.

Defense attorneys anticipate asking that the case be sent to juvenile court.

The next hearing will be held Nov. 27.
