GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A pro second amendment rally was held Saturday at the Old County Courthouse at noon.
More than 100 people showed up to hear various speakers from organizations around the valley, including the Mesa County Patriots.
Some residents even brought their assault weapons, which were unloaded. The barrels instead held American flags.
The rally was held as part of National Day of Resistance on Feb. 23. The day was dubbed by gun activists in response to President Barack Obama's push for stricter gun laws.
At the rally, speakers encouraged attendees to write their local lawmakers and demand action in Colorado's congress to strike down a Democratic-led legislation package. The comprehensive plan would ban high-capacity magazines, hold gun sellers and manufacturers responsible for damages from assault weapons and require universal background checks, among other things.
