GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- St. Mary's Hospital has donated $50,000 to B4 Babies and Beyond, which helped more than 800 moms and 1,700 kids last year.

The program assists women with nutrition, growth and development, healthy lifestyles, translation services and transportation. In 2011, the program transported pregnant women to more than 700 appointments.

The program's mission is to help pregnant moms have healthy babies. "This is done through education, knowing what to do and how to access health care," said Will Hays, vice president of client services for Hilltop Community Resources.

B4 Babies and Beyond is expected to move into the Mesa County Health Department in early June, in order to be under one roof with other resources available to pregnant women and their children.
