GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Kannah Creek Brewing Company broke ground on a $4 million project to expand to a second location and bottle two of its beers for liquor store shelves.

After seven years of selling its popular hops, the neighborhood brew pub will open its second location off of Ninth Street and Riverside Parkway.

The new brewing location will have a limited food menu and tasting room, but its main purpose will be to create and distribute the beers for other stores around the valley.

"Our main goal will be to take care of the Grand Valley and distribute our beer within the Grand Valley. Our dream would be to fill tap accounts, bars and restaurants around town," explained Eric Ross, co-owner and general manager for Kannah Creek.

Ross also said he and his business partner are planning on expanding statewide from there.

Kannah Creek is using Western Slope contractors to build the facility.

They're also promoting within the company, as well as hiring locally, to fill the extra open positions.

The company brews about 30 beers throughout the year.

The owners have chosen to distribute their two most popular beers, the Land's End Amber and the Standing Wave Pale Ale, both of which are World Beer Cup winners.

The brewpub hopes to have its second location up and running by this time next year.

It would be nice if that area south of downtown could be revitalized.
