One Man Detained After Shooting and SWAT Standoff

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - One man is being detained following a shooting that took place at about 11:15 am at 476 Glen Rd. A total of four people were transported to the hospital, one with multiple gunshot wounds and three others with injuries possibly from another type of weapon. All are expected to survive.

While officers were investigating the shooting, they obtained information that the suspect’s vehicle may be linked to an address in the 2000 block of Elm Ave. As the first officer was pulling up to that address he noticed a vehicle matching the description of one seen at the Glen Road incident leaving the Elm Ave. house. The shooting suspect was not in the vehicle, however the person inside told the officer the suspect was inside the house on Elm Avenue.

As officers went up to the house on Elm Avenue, multiple people began coming out, however they did not find the suspect. Officers briefly detained several of those who came out of the house while they sorted out who may or may not have been connected to the shooting.

While doing so, they learned a two-month old baby had been left inside the Elm Avenue house, with the suspect still possibly inside. SWAT team officers set up outside the house, and were able to safely get the baby out and return her to her mother. They then went back inside and began searching the house for the suspect.

Two neighbors watched the incident go down from their backyard and said, "[We] came home from lunch and we look out the backyard and there's a SWAT team running down the alley, I was like 'what the hell's going on?' Ran outside to the backyard to see what was going on, it was craziness."

While SWAT was in the house, officers received a tip that the suspect was walking near 28 Road and North Ave. Officers immediately responded to that area, where they found the suspect and detained him.

Initial reports from police indicate this was a domestic issue dealing with custody.

There are multiple witnesses being interviewed and authorities are still sorting through the details. No one has been charged at this time, as they continue to investigate.

Oh I see, that old chestnut: "if you don't like it, go and do it yourself." Love it or leave it. Lame. As residents of this fine city who may actually be affected or endangered by misreporting, we have the right and the responsibility to complain about lousy coverage -- like I said, 5 basic elements to any story. If you can't get one of them right, quit reporting and go back to waiting tables. And BTW, Sandy Hook is a prime example of what's wrong with the nooz today: no questioning, no investigating, no crime photos, no surveillance video feed, no evidence at all, just plain old regurgitation of the cops' press releases. Sad and disgusting.

Why are you guys even here if you can't stand KREX? Just to cry and moan? Get a life. From my perspective, its a matter of "you can't please All of the people All of the time". What I mean by that is if they gave minimun information such as "Someone has been shot" then you would complain about not enough information so rather, they get as much as they can from cops, bystanders, and anybody else and report what they believe is the truth. Every major news company does this, specific examples in recent news is with that cop fujitive, and the Sandy hook shootings, every news station was changing their story on an hourly basis, most of the initial stories were inaccurate until they had all the details. If you can to better, I invite you to create a news station of your own, until then hush. My only issues with KREX are the word filters on these comment sections, because I would really love to tell you how efing mental you are, but it won't let me, and there needs to be much much more Cori.

On the contrary, considering Randy Stone pays his reporterds about $8.50 an hour, I'd say KREX is getting its money's worth. What, WHERE, when, why and sometimes how, guys. It's not hard.

Kinda unfair to label these guys that way. Limited resources due to size of market, unclear (false) statements, and prioritizing don't allow for constant updates. Don't get me wrong, there is much to hold them accountable for. Mockingbyrd repeating of official propaganda whitewashing truth to obfuscate any real meaningful efforts to address our numerous problems being the biggie. But unfolding and quickly changing stories like this are likely difficult. Especially if there are only a couple people to chase leads, work camera, edit, production, talk to the cops and witnesses, then constantly update the website to make you happy....all in a couple hrs.

Very sad news agency you guys are, the shooting occurred on Glenn Road the suspect fled to the area of 19th & Elm but was found around the corner.
