GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The fifth annual Grand Mesa poker run was held Saturday to benefit veterans.

Around 100 people registered for the ride, raising over $1,000.

The riders started at Randy's Diner in Clifton, then rode to Delta, over the Grand Mesa, down to Moses Leather shop off of Horizon Drive and finally ended up at VFW Post 1247 off of Ute Avenue.

Many veterans participated in the fundraiser, helping show their support along with others. "That's good, that's what they should be doing. I mean after all that's what saved our country," said Ron Bozyk, an Army veteran.

Karon Carley, president of Operation Interdependence, said the money raised at the event will go to helping out veterans and those who currently serve in the military. "Even though troops are coming home there's always troops stationed somewhere, up to a quarter million all around the world at all times," she said.

The money raised will go to the Patriot Guard Riders, and Operation Interdependence. O.I. is a group that sends deployed troops goody bags, so they can have a little piece of home with them at all times.
