What Does the Future Hold for Highway 6 in Palisade?

PALISADE, Colo.- Palisade planning officials gave the public a chance to see several options they may be considering to update Highway 6 as it runs through the town.

Each option addresses safety, traffic and beautification issues on the corridor.

"The need for a safe, user-friendly pedestrian corridor from the Palisade High School down to ... Palisade Park or Main Street. It's a big concern on the part of the people that have kids in school, as well as citizens at large," said Richard Mathews of the Palisade Planning Commission.

Currently, there are no funds for the project.

After Monday's open house, the planning commission will present its findings to the board of trustees, who will decide how the plan will be implemented and in what stages.
