GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- The nation's first coast-to-coast litter pickup plans to clean up Mesa County's roads this week, from Sept. 8-9.

While the Pick Up America team members cleaned up Delta County, they dubbed the area "Dirty Delta" after picking up more than 4,641 pounds of litter across 33.2 miles of road.

This week the Pick Up America group will be in Grand Junction hosting a local litter pickup.

Volunteers interested in helping are asked to meet at Colorado Mesa University's R-7 parking lot at 12th Street and Kennedy Avenue at 10 a.m. Saturday and at noon Sunday.

Volunteers should bring lots of water, lunch, sunscreen, a hat and a car if they're able to help shuttle volunteers.
