GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A major portion of the construction on I-70B is almost complete. Starting Tuesday, drivers will be able to travel back on the inside lanes of the highway.

Throughout Phase 1, construction moved traffic out to the frontage roads from 24 3/4 Road to just past 25 Road as they added an extra lane. Officials say that lane will free up a lot of traffic congestion.

"Phase 2 of construction will consist of building the outside sections of the roadway. Basically it will look similar to what we have at the Mesa Mall stretch," said Matt Randall, project manager for Interstate Highway Construction.

During this phase, workers will also install new storm drains, piping, landscaping and upgraded pedestrian walkways.

Crews anticipate another two to three months of work.
