KREX News Room
PALISADE, Colo.- The town of Palisade swore in its new Police Chief Thursday morning during a ceremony at the Palisade Fire Department.
The new Chief, Tony Erickson, celebrated his birthday by reciting and signing an oath, completing his last task before officially being recognized as the new chief.
Not only is today his birthday, it's the town of Palisade's birthday too. Coincidence? Erickson says more like it's meant to be.
Erickson has over 30 years of law enforcement experience and says he is looking forward to bringing knowledge from his latest job in Colorado Springs to the Western Slope.
"I want to establish good relationships both inside and outside the department. I want to build a professional organization and have my people highly trained as I can," said Erickson.
Erickson will begin his new role effective immediately.
