PALISADE, Colo. - Palisade town officials have confirmed with NewsChannel 5 that they have made a final decision on their new police chief.

Tony Erickson has been chosen out of the six final candidates.

Erickson has more than 30 years in law enforcement experience and is currently a sergeant at the Colorado Springs Police Department.

"The different dynamics of living on the front range and getting back to what has been a very long journey to a small town where I can invest myself into that small town, the school district, the people that live there and just to serve that community. I'm just really looking forward to this," said Erickson.

He tells NewsChannel 5 that he'll be moving with his family to Palisade and will be swearing in as police chief in April.
