PALISADE, Colo.- After more than a decade of waiting, folks with the Palisade Fire Department have their new station, and are now ready to share the facility with the public.

NewsChannel 5 brought you the first inside look of the new station before it was open to everyone.

The facility is nearly 14,000 square feet and came in under budget and on time.

Fire department officials say they are more than ready to utilize the building and help the community out.

“We have a lot better training,” said Richard Rupp, fire chief. “We have our tower where we set we can go repelling off of, and also a lot of stairs for physical agility tests.”

There will be an open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the new station.

It’s located at 341 W. 7th St. in Palisade.
