MESA COUNTY, Colo.- A man was killed Saturday night when the vehicle he was driving rolled off Interstate 70 near Clifton.

The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, has been identified as 34-year-old Fortunato Diaz-Alejandro.

The accident happened around 10 p.m. Saturday.

A 2002 black Ford pickup truck traveling westbound on I-70 near mile marker 34 veered off the left side of the road.

It then rotated clockwise across I-70 and went off the right side of the road.

The vehicle rolled, ejecting Diaz-Alejandro and pinning him underneath.

Lifesaving efforts provided on scene were unsuccessful.

The Clifton Fire Department and Mesa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, as well as the Colorado State Patrol.

The cause of death was multiple blunt-force injuries and the manner of death was accidental.

It did not appear Diaz-Alejandro was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

He also had a blood alcohol level of 0.216.
