GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A new book has been selected this year by the One Book, One Mesa County program, encouraging residents to share in reading.

The Dog Stars, is the winning book that was chosen by a committee of ten.

The book will unite hundreds of readers in Mesa County, and then give them the opportunity to discuss it with other readers.

The fictional book has a futuristic plot and it happens to take place in Colorado.

"The idea is that a community that reads together becomes closer together and can talk about things, think about things, and have wonderful discussions as well as wonderful reading experiences," said Janine Rider, co-chair of One Book.

There will be several programs and events to discuss the book, starting Feb. 3.

The author of The Dog Stars, will visit Grand Junction March 9.
