GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- Every 40 seconds a child goes missing in the United States. One retail giant spent Saturday teaching kids about safety awareness.

Old Navy partnered with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to host a safety fair in Grand Junction.

Local firefighters, the SWAT team and a K-9 dog helped with the event to teach kids how important safety is and the best ways to stay alert and aware.

"I think that's what we are here for as business owners, not only to sell a great product to the community, but also be community event coordinators and really make things available to our customers," said Freda Psencik, store manager of Old Navy.

Psencik added that Old Navy's nationwide event is to provide families with safety awareness in a fun, family-friendly shopping environment.

Children also got a safety fun pack to remind them of the motto, "safety first at all times."
