DELTA COUNTY, Colo.- On Saturday night an oil truck accident left a big mess on Highway 50. Delta County Fire Department officials believe around 50 to 100 gallons leaked out.

The accident happened on Highway 50 just before 4:30 p.m.

Delta County police and fire officials responded. Firefighters say they stopped the oil from leaking with use of booms and oil absorbents.

One witness said the trucker swerved and hit her vehicle.

Another witness, Daniel Mills, recalled hearing a large boom and believes the truck's tire blew out. "All of a sudden he just rolled. He started rolling and just slid across the ground in front of us, maybe a foot away or so. Thank God I'm alive," said Mills.

Fire officials told NewsChannel 5 that another company will be in charge of cleaning up the spill.

Officials have not yet released the exact cause of the accident or information regarding injuries. One witness said he saw someone taken away in an ambulance. Another witness said the oil truck driver was not seriously injured.

Why would anyone assume the media would report facts. Most are agenda driven and after all why would you let the facts get in the way of a good story. It is time for change!

It was not an oil truck at all it was a tri-state electric truck, it is a truck to set up power for people like you and me so we can get on-line....NOT AN OIL TRUCK...get it right

There is a disconnect with media due diligence and facts. the truck was a digger truck used in line work, and not an oil industry vehicle. What spilled was diesel ful. These reporters have to get off their behinds and away from the desk in order to report accurately what is happening. Lazy and pathetic.

It's not the oil or gas industry trashing our state, it's the Texas and California people wanting to change our state, cause they have ruined theirs.

Oil Truck?? the footage doesn't give a good view but I'd say it looks like a power pole bucket truck? Oil, like diesel fuel?? GJ media seems to be awful hung up on trashing the oil industry every chance it gets!
