GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A $7.5 million project is in the making for Horizon Drive, and officials with the project say they are coming closer to finalizing the plans.

The new plans are slated to construct a median along horizon drive from I-70 to G Road.

Officials say they have spent the last year going over the plans and getting them all in order.

They hope this project will help improve the economic vitality of Horizon Drive and the community as a whole.

“There is about 49 percent of the district out here that is undeveloped,” said Brenda Brock, of the Horizon Drive District Board of Directors. “So we are hoping that if we get some infrastructure and sort of spruce some things up, we can add to the economic impact of the community.”

Officials are hosting an open house Thursday night at the Grand Vista Hotel at 5 p.m. They will present the plans for the corridor improvement project to the entire community.

Officials are hoping start construction in spring of 2014.
