Officials Discuss Improving Fruita Civic Center Memorial Park

FRUITA, Colo.- After careful deliberation, a popular site in downtown Fruita may be changing locations.

City council officials say one of their goals is to research and develop the full potential of the Fruita downtown area. They believe that by renovating the Fruita Civic Center Memorial Park, they will be able to do just that.

Officials say that by changing the location of the popular stage that sits in the park, they'll be able to connect residents to the downtown area, especially during major events.

“Right now it's kind of a barrier between downtown and the park,” said Ture Nycum, of Fruita Parks and Recreation. “So we are kind of looking at how to best utilize that area. Whether we move the pavilion or we redesign the pavilion, so there is better connectivity.”

Officials at Fruita Parks and Recreation say another task they're looking into is improving the overall infrastructure of the park.
Since they’re in the very beginning stages of the plans, we may not see any significant changes for years.

However, they do want to hear what you think about the improvements. You can contact them at 858-0360, or in coming days, log on to their website at Fruita.org for more information.
