WALSENBURG, Colo.- Authorities have found the wreckage of a small plane that crashed in southern Colorado's Huerfano County.

Sheriff Bruce Newman said in a news release that Colorado Civil Air Patrol found the wreck in the southwestern part of the county Friday.

The exact location of the crash wasn't released, but authorities say it was found at an elevation of 12,400 feet.

Newman says there were no survivors, but the release didn't specify how many people were on board.

The air patrol spotted the plane Thursday while flying over the remote, mountainous region to check out a report of a signal from an emergency locator transmitter.

Colorado Civil Air Patrol Maj. Ed O'Brien has said the wreckage could be that of a missing North Carolina plane.

The site is along that plane's intended flight path.
