"No Measurable Amount" of Hydrocarbons Found in Williams Leak

PARACHUTE, Colo. - Williams' officials tell NewsChannel 5 that they are continuing to work 24 hours a day along side the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Public Health and Environment to clean up and find the source of a natural gas liquid leak near Parachute.

The leak was discovered on March 8, on March 20 the COGCC issued Williams and the property owner a Notice of Violation.

Willaims are using vacuum trucks to suck up the hydrocarbons which have decreased over the last several days.

On Thursday, Williams' officials say there was a sheen but no measurable amount of hydrocarbons removed out of the ground water.

Since the leak was discovered almost two weeks ago, they have collected a total of 143 barrels of hydrocarbons and 2,711 barrels of water.

Officials say they have taken many precautionary measures to protect the nearby Parachute Creek and there is currently no evidence that it has been contaminated by the leak.
