KREX News Room
GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. On Saturday, local residents are cleaning up their backyards after a flooding occur ed after last night's rainfall.
Some residents say they wanted to install a pool in their backyards but they weren't expecting it would start out as a flood.
Many residents on Catalina street were outside their homes shoveling and draining mud and water all day. In one instance they said the water rose about 14-feet. Another said that their first level of their home was damaged.
"Came back and looked, walked back in the house, just got a cup of coffee and came back out and looked and went..crap what can you do," said Dave Ealey, resident.
"The whole front yard, backyard, all into the garage and it just came through," said Leslie Boyd, resident.
"It must of just been a real heavy rain that caused this to over top the drainage channel bank," said Chris Spears, The City of Grand Junction.
The city tells us that they will be working on this situation throughout the week.
